Please leave a comment if you can place any of these books in one of the history or science categories on the right (as specifically as possible).
This book list is taken from the Robinson Curriculum. It is written in basically the order of easiest to hardest and I’ve taken someone’s markings for the level of the books. Here’s where I’m getting the list from.
There are a few of the required books that I haven’t been able to find online. I wrote them in the list, but there is no link. This is to show you what you are missing (just a few!) Books which also have an audio version are marked with ***.
This is an actual curriculum. They have you read these in order (except that most in the series are considered optional). For math they have you do just flash cards until your child knows the basic facts cold. Then they say start with Saxon 5/4 and do every problem up through Calculus. When you finish with the math, then you do the science books at the end of the list. The only other things they provide for you is a vocabulary drill, vocabulary worksheets, and some tests to go along with some of the books.

Robinson is a fabulous curriculum that teaches the student to work independantly. I bought this curriculum 8 years ago and I continue to use it with all 5 of my children. Mr Robinson methods are tough, but worth it. The 12 disc set comes with all of the books Mr Robinson says to read PLUS dictionary, encyclopedias, grammar pages, puzzles, reading comprehension worksheets for stories, spelling words and quizes, vocab quizes and MORE. With purchase of the discs I now own these literary classics and am free to reproduce for my household any of the pages I desire from the set. This set was well worth the cost. I bought it for $80. Many of the classic literature books listed by Robinson can be pruchased at garage sales, estate sales, etc for $1 or less. I purchased some of the books so my children didn’t spend too many hours at the computer. I do however require essay writing from my children upon completeion of the books read.

Thank you so much for the time & effort you put into making this list with links! This is great. I was wondering if you have (or willing to provide) a list of the vocab words he uses for the books? Thank you again!
June 7, 2012 at 11:56 am
The vocab worksheets come with the curriculum; you’d have to buy the curriculum to get them. The book list is online though, and I linked to where I got the list from. I have never searched for vocab lists. I think you might be able to find some of the tests for the books online as parents make some of them.
June 7, 2012 at 5:44 pm
Thank you. I wasn’t looking for worksheets or tests made for the vocab, but just a list of the vocab words he had chosen for each book. Just as you and others have posted a list of the books he suggests, I thought perhaps there was a list of the suggested vocab as well. Thanks anyway.

Hi. Can you tell me the difference between the Eclectic Primer and the First Reader? They look similar. And is there some teaching I need to do before these or just jump right in? Thanks so much!
November 18, 2012 at 5:20 pm
The Primer is first. The first reader picks up where the primer leaves off. It looks easy on the first few pages, but it quickly gets into longer readings. It’s best to know the alphabet phonics sounds first, but not necessary. They will learn the words for each lesson by sight, and then read that lesson.
I have the words on power point if you want to use the lessons. The book lessons start on Day 172. Before that is learning the alphabet.
